I find it interesting the way in which language is contrived whence a statement is turned around upon itself to imply the opposite of what is said, ergo "We smoked dope before killing" - the headline from the Empty News. At first glance, this appears to indicate that the person who did the killing smoked dope.
No - you're wrong.
The text actually tells us that the victims were smoking marijuana before one of them was - allegedly - killed:
"Joanne Lees and Peter Falconio smoked marijuana shortly before a man stopped their van at an isolated Territory spot, a magistrate heard yesterday."
